Prairie Storm Minor Hockey Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce the following coaching appointments for the 2019-2020 Season:
Torrey is returning for his second year as the Head Coach of the PSMHA Extreme Hockey Peewee AA team after assisting for one season previous to that. Under Torrey's direction as the Head Coach the team was successful as league Champions last season. Torrey has also served as Assistant Coach with the Weyburn Youngfellow Wings Peewee AA team in 2014-2015 and has participated as an instructor with the Western Prospects Hockey Development camp focusing on development, power skating, conditioning and team play. Torrey was a Coach and evaluator for Western Prospects Hockey Development Bantam Showcase from 2009 through 2015 and has been involved with power skating instruction throughout Southern Saskatchewan.
In addition to his coaching experience Torrey brings a player perspective through his time with the Interlake Lightning Midget AAA team, Weyburn Red Wings SJHL team and Canisius College NCAA Division 1 team. We look forward to another great season under Coach Torrey's direction.
Coach Mike Dumelie will be resuming the Head Coaching role for the PSMHA Extreme Hockey Bantam AA team for his 9th season with PSMHA. Mike has been coaching for approximately 37 years over which time he has coached at the Junior, Senior, Juvenile, Peewee and Bantam levels. His focus over the past 19 years has been at the Bantam level where he has for the most part coached Bantam AA, which the exception of a break to pursue school overseas at which time he coached the Regina Bantam SaskFirst team.
Mike has coached with the Saskatchewan Provincial U16 Men's team for a number of years as well as the U18 Women's Saskatchewan Provincial team for two years including the Canada Winter Games in Prince George. In addition to that he coached the U17 Team West at the World Championship in Quebec and has recently been involved in the creation of the Adam Herold Legacy Foundation that was established to provide opportunities to Saskatchewan youth to develop and refine not only their hockey skills, but also their leadership potential.
Outside of coaching Mike has a successful business and entrepreneurial career, scouts for the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League and spends time competing with his beautiful dogs. We wish to welcome Mike back for the 2019-2020 season.
