PSMHA is proud to offer a Coach Development Series at no cost to all coaches who have registered to coach in the upcoming playing season. Every Wednesday throughout September we will be offering a different coach series free to our coaches with the intent of helping you build on your coaching knowledge. The sessions are as follows:
Wednesday, September 4th - 8:30 PM - Balgonie Stardome
Sarah is the University of Regina Women's Hockey coach. Sarah was named the Canada West Coach of the Year in 2015-16 after guiding the Cougars to a 12-10-5-1 record. Under Hodges, the team has won one Canada West Title and qualified for three CIS Championships. Sarah will provide insight to our coaches interested in coaching our Female Athletes on how coaching at the female level might differ and tips and techniques she has learned along the way.
Wednesday, September 11th - 8:30 PM - Balgonie Stardome
Matt is the current Goalie coach for the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Lethbridge Pronghorns. He is the Goaltending lead for Hockey Alberta and has worked with several Team Alberta teams. In addition, Matt has been involved three times with the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence. We are thrilled to have Matt on the ice with anyone interested in learning tips and techniques for coaching goaltenders. Matt will work with our coaches to provide drills and ways to keep the goalies engaged during your team practices.
Wednesday, September 18th - 8:30 PM - Balgonie Stardome
Dave Schultz is Skate Canada's Saskatchewan High Performance Director, NCCO Level III certified coach. He has 9 years of full time coaching experience and has been utilized by SHA as a skating skills presenter. Dave will work with our coaches on teaching power skating (stride, edges, etc..) with the focus placed on understanding the technique such as body positions, bio mechanical principles, identifying and fixing common errors.
Wednesday, September 25 - 8:30 PM - Balgonie Stardome
Todd Liskowich of Peak Performance Hockey has coached several levels of hockey from Initiation to Midget AAA hockey in Regina, Saskatoon, and at Notre Dame College. He prides himself on continual education and his current certification includes: High Performance I, Development I, Body Checking, Hockey Canada Skating and Skills Certification, NCCP A, NCCP B, CanPower Skating Instructor Certification, and Certified Sports Vision Trainer (Dynamic Edge). In this session, Todd will work with our coaches on techniques for shooting, scoring and passing and key teaching points in common drills.
Wednesday, October 2 - 8:30 PM - Balgonie Stardome
Todd Liskowich of Peak Performance Hockey will build on his Shooting and Scoring clinic and provide tips on puck control and protection. Coaches will learn techniques and fundamentals into teaching these specific skills
Anyone who has submitted a PMSHA coaching application for the 2019/2020 season is eligible to attend however, you must sign up for each session you plan on attending using the registration link below. Registration for each session is required so that we have an understanding of how many will be attending.
