PSMHA is proud to announce the return of Novice Power Skating Fundamentals with Dave Schultz for this season.
PSMHA wants to ensure our hockey players build a solid foundation in hockey's most important skill: SKATING. Becoming a good skater doesn't happen overnight. Skating is a very technical skill and is something players learn in progression through the various development stages of hockey.
This program has dual purpose. It is to ensure our Novice players start the season with the proper skating fundamentals, and also a coaching development opportunity for our coaches to work with a power skating instructor and gain more knowledge in executing skating specific drills through the season.
The program was designed and developed by Dave Schultz who will also be the instructor to deliver the program. Dave Schultz is Skate Canada's Saskatchewan High Performance Director, NCCO Level III certified coach. He has 9 years of full time coaching experience and has been utilized by SHA as a skating skills presenter.
These sessions are above and beyond team practices covered in your registration fees however providing hockey programming at no additional cost such as this is a direct result of PSMHA fundraising efforts driven by our volunteers
The Novice Power Skating session dates are October 6th, October 27th, November 3rd and November 24th.
It is recommended that all Novice coaching staff are on the ice with their team.
Dave will lead each session but will also provide the coaches with key teaching points for each drill prior to each session. He will also provide power skating drills for each team to add to their practice plans for the upcoming week.
