PSMHA is pleased to announce the following AA Head Coaches for the upcoming 2021 2022 playing season:
U18 AA - Jeremy Palanuik
U15 AA - Mike Dumelie
U15 AA Female - Rory Peters
U13 AA - Torrey Lindsay
Jeremy is returning to us as the head coach of the U18 AA team. Jeremy has been involved in the game for 35 years as a player, coach, official, instructor and volunteer. Jeremy played all his minor hockey in Regina from novice to U18, and played Junior B with the Regina Capitals before playing 10 years of senior hockey in southern Saskatchewan. In addition he also was a referee in the Adult Safe hockey league for 15 years. Jeremy is the head goalie Instructor for the North Regina Hockey School and has been in that role for the past 8 years.
In 2016 Jeremy and his family moved from Regina to White City where Jeremy became involved in our minor hockey programs. Since coming to the Prairie Storm Minor Hockey Association for the 2016/2017 season Jeremy has helped out tremendously in various roles.
Coach Mike Dumelie will be resuming the Head Coaching role for the PSMHA U15 AA team for his 11th season. Mike has been coaching for approximately 39 years over which time he has coached at the Junior, Senior, Juvenile, U13 and U15 levels. His focus over the past 20 plus years has been at the U15 level where he has for the most part coached U15 AA, which the exception of a break to pursue school overseas at which time he coached the Regina U15 SaskFirst team.
Mike coached with the Saskatchewan Provincial U16 Men's team for a number of years as well as the U18 Women's Saskatchewan Provincial team for two years including the Canada Winter Games in Prince George. In addition to that he coached the U17 Team West at the World Championship in Quebec and has recently been involved in the creation of the Adam Herold Legacy Foundation that was established to provide opportunities to Saskatchewan youth to develop and refine not only their hockey skills, but also their leadership potential.
Outside of coaching Mike has a successful business and entrepreneurial career, scouts for the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League and spends time competing with his beautiful dogs. We wish to welcome Mike back for the 2021-2022 season.
Coach Rory is coming back for his second year with the U15AA Female program hoping to see a more normal season than the inaugural season for the program that was this past year. Rory has an educational background in Kinesiology and Sport Administration and a passion for the growth of the female game. Rory has coached at the U7, U9, U11, and U13 coed levels and U15 AA female level within PSMHA as well as has been a coach with female spring AAA programs in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 before the program was put on hold due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
Outside of coaching, Rory has been an instructor with various Goaltender Clinics, a SaskFirst Goaltender Evaluator, a WHL Off Ice Official and golf instructor as well as youth coach for both soccer and softball. Rory is passionate about sports and what they can teach and is excited to be back for a second year with the PSMHA U15AA Female team.
Torrey is returning for his 4th year as the Head Coach of the PSMHA U13AA team after assisting for one season previous to that. Torrey has also served as Assistant Coach with the Weyburn Youngfellow Wings U13 AA team in 2014-2015 and has participated as an instructor with the Western Prospects Hockey Development camp focusing on development, power skating, conditioning and team play. Torrey was a Coach and evaluator for Western Prospects Hockey Development U15 Showcase from 2009 through 2015 and has been involved with power skating instruction throughout Southern Saskatchewan.
In addition to his coaching experience Torrey brings a player perspective through his time with the Interlake Lightning U18 AAA team, Weyburn Red Wings SJHL team and Canisius College NCAA Division 1 team. We look forward to another great season under Coach Torrey's direction.
