PSMHA Goalie Registration Fee Change

Goalies will no longer see a reduction in fees over other players within PSMHA.  Instead, goalies will see the same reduction returned in a credit for goal tender development.  Each player registered as a goalie will receive a credit equal to the discount previously applied.  The credit will be held in an account for each goal tender that can be used for approved goal tender development throughput the playing season.

Reason for the Change

  1. PSMHA feels that this will still provide an incentive for registering in a critical position however will provide further development for goal tenders within our association.

  2. This will help to make the flat fee structure discussed above easier to implement “across the board”

  3. This will promote further skill development for our goalies without parents have to incur the costs.

How will it work?

PSMHA will record a credit based  on a percentage of your registration fees.  Once your fees are paid in full you will be notified with what your available credit is.  If your child is interested in a development activity you would submit the request to your Division Director who would then provide you approval following board review.

Upon completion of the season, you will receive a cheque back for all approved development expenses up to the maximum amount of your credit. NOTE: This does not apply to Novice as players will not register as full time goalies.

FAQ on the proposed change:

Q: What if I do not use all the credits before the end of the playing season?

A: Credits must be used before the end of the valid playing season as they are a percentage of the season registration fees.  If you do not use the credits before the end of the season, they will be lost.

Q: What types of programs will apply?

A: Each individual goaltender will be able to choose the type of development he/she wishes to participate in.  This could include, but is not limited to, individual off ice instruction (ie. Goaltech), camps with the primary focus of goal tender development, individual on ice instruction from trained instructors.  All development activities must be approved by the Board for the credit to be applied.

Q: When is the credit available?

A: A portion of the credit will be available (on the $700.00 flat rate fee) as soon as you register.  The remainder will be available once your full fees have been paid.  This will allow those interested the opportunity to participate in events over the summer.

All changes will be further discussed at the PSMHA Annual General Meeting (further details to follow).
